In an area with a more industrial history its likely you could buy both of them for $1k or so lol. This spring I bought at an auction a PowrKraft ( monkey wards branded logan ) that was a little dirtier than the one you linked came with one chuck, tailstock, and a couple of jacobs chucks for the tailstock for $550. As an instance I live on the high plains where machine tools are thin on the ground and had to give $750 for my first " real " lathe which was a 10" craftsman ( atlas) with a qc tool holder, center rest, tail stock, two chucks and a bit of tooling. There will be another lathe another day but not this one I decided to instead of continuing on to take it as a sign and go home. I went to go pick it up last night and I made it about 20 miles and my brand new pickup truck (less than 5000 miles on it) got a check engine light and started driving really sluggish. UPDATE: I want to thank everyone for their helpful words and advise. Can any of you tell me more about it and what would be a good price for it?Įdit: Also I am scheduled to go see it this evening and maybe pick it up what should I look for and check to make sure it is good running order.

The seller doesn't know much about it other than somehow figured out it was a Logan brand.

So somewhere it was suggested that I look for a used benchtop style lathe and I found this one. I want to add a metal lathe to my shop for various projects and I was planning on buying a cheap harbor freight lathe and in fact, did but when it arrived it was beaten to heck in shipping and the cheap plastic gears made me reconsider that option. I am fairly new to machining and I am a hobbyist metal worker.
